His first independent venture, Gordon Ramsay, Royal Hospital Road, opened in 1998 to great acclaim--it now holds three Michelin stars. The elegant space and simple, straightforward dishes have won the hearts of discriminating Brits, who eat up Ramsay’s caramelized apple millefeuilles, lobster consommé, and roasted salad of lamb without a second thought about other three-starred restaurants across the Channel.
