shrimp and grits Charleston, SC, has a dining scene that rivals cities twice its size and Magnolias is truly a jewel in its not-too-shabby crown. Located in the in the old Charleston Customs House building in the city's French Quarter District - a stones throw from Charleston Harbor on hopping East Bay Street, Magnolias whips up gourmet fare without every forgetting where it came from. This is the new South you've heard so much about, where fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits sit happily side by side with filet of beef and coriander yellowfin tuna - and the egg rolls are stuffed with collard greens. In a city where a shanty shack five blocks from the ocean can easily set you back a million big ones, Magnolias is refreshingly reasonably priced. Lunch prices run from about $9 for sandwiches and burgers, up to about $17 for entrees. Dinner will set you back from $23-$28 for your entrees, with pre-dinner snacking coming in at $6 - $12. The not-to-be-missed Sunday brunch comes won't cost you more than $23 - and worth every penny. Check out the full menu here. And the wine list? You won't be disappointed.
