French Chef Christophe Eme, who rose to stardom in Los Angeles at L’Orangerie, is now chef and co-owner, with girlfriend actress Jeri Ryan, of Ortolan. With a resumé heavily weighted in the finest kitchens in France (including Paris’ famed Taillevant), Chef Eme brings inspired haute French cuisine to West Hollywood in a room that combines crystal chandeliers, cream-colored draped walls, and tufted banquettes. Order from the “menu plaisir” featuring his signature dishes: The hamachi “chaud et frois” with blood orange marinade is a particular standout. For sheer novelty try the Roasted John Dory “finishing on a hot river stone.” For the curious, an Ortolan is a small brown bird eaten as a delicacy, and no, it’s not on the menu.
